WELCOMING YOU HOME
Welcome to St. Michael Debre Sahil Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church, Orlando Michael! We are a vibrant, community-oriented church located in Southeast Orlando, near the Orlando International Airport, between Highway 436 and Haffner Avenue. Although our church is still young, we play a vital role in connecting the Ethiopian community with God and nurturing our faith together. Our founders are deeply committed to creating a welcoming space for the Orthodox Tewahido family to worship and grow. We warmly invite you to visit us, pray with us at any time, and join our Sunday prayer services. We look forward to meeting you in person and sharing in the blessings of faith together!
OUR STORY
Our story began in 2012 with 17 devoted Orthodox believers on a mission to establish a church. They named the church Orlando Michael and started their journey by gathering in each other's homes every Sunday to read the Bible and pray under the guidance of Deacon Wossen. Over the next five years, the members grew to 32 members. To accommodate this growth, the members rented a room at a local Baptist church, allowing us to serve the community as a public church. Then, on June 23, 2017, Orlando Michael was officially incorporated with the State of Florida, marking a significant milestone in our journey of faith.
OUR SERVICES
Orlando Michael provides a full range of services, just like any Ethiopian Orthodox church. We are blessed to have our own property and a permanent monk, Aba Gebreselasse, residing on the premises. Every Sunday, Father (Aba) leads prayers starting at 4 AM. In addition to regular services, he also performs christenings, funeral prayers, home blessings, offers guidance and mediation, and other religious services as any Orthodox church does. We are dedicated to serving our community and nurturing our faith together.
